This is the drawing of the painting I am doing for Ann Keizer.

Tuesday, March 29, 2011

I scrubbed out some smoke and added their wicker bug screen to the doorway. I think it looks much more inviting... I like how the smoke brings my eye back to the cabin.

Wednesday, March 23, 2011

The painting is almost done.... I think i need to do something more to the open door of the cabin, to make it more inviting. I think a little smoke coming from the chimeny will help bring the scene to life.

The little road in burnt sienna draws the viewer into the painting.

Monday, March 07, 2011

I have added a dark wash of Paynes grey, Hookers green, and preyleen maroon to the left corner of the painting and I have begun to build the greens of the grasses in the for ground. For the grasses I have used quinacridone gold, green gold, hookers green, and paynes grey.

Friday, March 04, 2011

I changed the trees on the left of the cabin. I like them better now. They will be muted down. I was not happy with the tree on the right, I will change it too.

Tuesday, March 01, 2011

I am putting washes of Garnet Lake were the darks will be to keep them warm. I am not liking the trees on the left of the cabin. I will change them.

Friday, February 25, 2011

Working on building up the trees.

Tuesday, February 22, 2011

I have begun to add the trees. the evergreens are a mix of Paynes grey, Hookers green, and Raw umber.

Thursday, February 17, 2011

I added a wash of Cobalt blue to the roof as the sky would be reflecting off it. Began painting the trees, I beleive they are hemlock in the back, with paynes grey, raw sienna, and hookers green deep.

Wednesday, February 16, 2011

By day four I begin to like a painting. It starts to lose that washed out look and begins to come into focas.
Here i have added Paynes grey and quinaridone gold to the windows on the side of the cabin and begun to add depth to the darks with washes of Garnet lake.

Monday, February 14, 2011

I added another wash of burnt sienna to the cabin, and perylene maroon and paynes grey to the shadows.
Second wash of cadmium red light to the doors.

Saturday, February 12, 2011

I used French ultra and Hookers green for the mountains and Springer Peak.
I began laying in the trees with Hookers green, Green gold and Quinacridone gold.
The cabin roof got a wash of Viridian, then a wash of Phthalo turquoise. The cabin is Burnt sienna, front door has washes of Cadmium red medium and cad. red light. A first wash of Paynes grey on a window and a door.

This is a 17x22 Watercolor I am painting for Lyle Blomquist, of he and Owen's Cabin.
I have painted the sky with Cobalt blue, cobalt blue deep, and a wash of cerulean blue. The trees and the cabin I did an all over wash of raw sienna. I want this painting to have a lot of warmth.

Thursday, June 03, 2010

I added a wash of brown over the greens and blues i used in the shadows on the flowers. They felt too cool and in need of warming up.

Tuesday, June 01, 2010

Some of the flowers are starting to open in the heart of these beautiful dogwoods. They have 4 or 5 white petal bracts, and the flower is actually in the round center.
This is a closer up look at the dogwood flowers.
