I have finished the first two leaves. You can see the first wash of  color 'Garnet Lake' I am using to achieve depth in the areas that will be deep dark.

I put a couple washes over everything that was behind. Just being blurry wasn't enough to set them back, I found. There was too much interference with the main two flowers.

This is day two of painting on this magnolia. I am using a lot of staining colors, which are new to me and I find them just a bit scary. They are strong, transparent and vibrant. Maybe too vibrant.

After and before 'Nicole'. I wasn't completely happy with the eyes. I wanted her to be looking at me. I am glad i made the change.
I have started to paint the glove and the feathers of one wing.
